Lesson # 6 - Check Your Receipts!

How often do you look at your receipt or pay attention to the cashier when they are scanning your items. If it be at a clothing store, grocery store, Walmart, Walgreens, or even an upscale boutique, I have had things ring up incorrectly.

If I catch it before the transaction, I poltiely inform the cashier or sales clerk of the error. It is not their fault. It is typically quickly solved, no fuss. Most stores appreciate you telling them as it allows them to correct their systems. Often times in grocery stores you will get the first item that rings up incorrectly for free. If I catch it after I have paid, I simply go to customer service.

People may disagree and think it is tackay but remember it is your money and you have certain rights as a consumer.

Next time you are at a store don't be afraid to speak up, you are the customer. But speakup in a tasteful and poilite manner. Do not be rude mistakes happen, and how would you like to be treated if you wer ein their shoes.

I was inspired to write this todat as my Staple Rewards check / rebate came in the mail today and was incorrect. I have my reciepts and documentaion, and I have sent them an email. I will keep you informed of what happens and how is resolved.

Feel free to tell me about your purchases that have rang up incorrectly below in the comments!
